YIPPEE
It is official...our last payment has been made on the house!
I can only do a mini happy dance as it could not have happened at a better time considering my work income has been in free fall mode over the last six months. ((sigh)) How come we can never get ahead?

Change Your Thinking
It will take just 37 seconds to read this and change your thinking..
Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room.
One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window.
The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end.
They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation..
Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.
The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and colour of the world outside.
The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake, ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every colour and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite details, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine this picturesque scene.
One warm afternoon, the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man could not hear the band - he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.
Days, weeks and months passed.
One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.
As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.
Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window besides the bed. It faced a blank wall..
The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, 'Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you.'
Epilogue: There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

Schools
Well the craziness is starting again.
We are looking at school options AGAIN!! We might end up with an online school option. My poor child. Why can't life be easy for one who is so precious to me.

Island needed
Sometimes I think that we just need a small island to live on...no phones, no cars, no idiots allowed.
I find that as I get older I am becoming more antisocial and antipeople. I am not sure if it is because I work from home or just find that I don't care about some members of humanity. They don't act humane towards others. There are no longer any common acts of being polite.
I see the way some of my husband's "co-workers" treat him and it just makes my blood boil. They don't have a clue. They have such small town mentality that they just DONT GET IT!! This is a man who has a MASTERS DEGREE in his chosen profession. He has traveled the world and met some AMAZING people. He used to LOVE it. Then there are those others who just got into the business because of a family member. They don't GIVE A DAMN about the work...they just want the money. Some people who I viewed as somewhat decent are just like all the rest. No wonder he is now cynical. If I had to work in that environment Lord only knows what I would do.
I speak my mind now and some people don't like that. Well too FRICKEN bad. My life is short, I am not going to make nice anymore. You treat me and mine with respect and decency and I wll do the same.
Time to check out real estate listings for that northern island. Anyone know of one cheap..let me know! :-)

In memory
In memory of a mother..March 17, 1976.
People die because of drunk drivers and the life of a little girl is never the same.
I recommend Hope Edelman and her books:

GRRRRR
Dear Dr. Butthead:
I’m the human being who has to try to type your crappy dictation M-F. I don’t give a damn that you surf the web while you are dictating, but could you get your fricken brain in the program and DICTATE the damn report! I am tired of listening to “um….um…um”…followed by the click, click, click of your damn mouse in my headphones!! I have over 70 reports to do today and I get paid by the lines that I type…NOT by the hours it takes me to do them.
Thank you…a PMS cranky medical transcriptionist

Mother's Day
It was 10 years ago today, May 9th, that I became a Mother, so today we celebrate a birthday AND Mother's Day. May the good lord help me now that she is in double digits.
Whether you have given birth to a child, are a step-mom of a child, adopted a child, foster a child, or even have a pet (or spouse) who you view as a child, I wish you all a Happy Mother's Day!

Friday Funny...
Borrowed from a friend's blog....funny nonetheless.
Did you know …
It takes 7 seconds for food to pass from mouth to stomach.
A human hair can hold 3 kg.
The length of the penis is three times the length of the thumb.
The femur is as hard as concrete.
A woman’s heart beats faster than the man’s.
Women blink twice as much as men.
We use 300 muscles just to hold the balance when we stand .
The women have read this entire text.
The men are still looking at their thumbs…

woo-hoo
Down 5.5 pounds already!!
I have just by lowering carbs and choosing the lower glycemic foods. I have gone to gym only twice in the last week but did the Wii fit for about 30 minutes on 3 other days. It certainly helps that hubby is also in the same boat...sure makes it much easier when everyone in the house is following the low glycemic / low carb plan.
Woo! HOO...doing the happy dance..
Hmmm..I wonder if the happy dance will burn a few calories also?

Gym
Went to the gym for the second time this week....miracle unto itself.
Know what really sucks...you do 1.75 miles on the bike, 0.54 miles on the elliptical...feeling really good..stop to get gas on the way home and all you smell is McD French fries, KFC fried chicken, Taco bell....OMG...being overweight SUCKS.

Starting now
So it happened..I went and established with a new family doctor as the old one's office was just too far and not easy to get to anymore. First thing they make you do is stand on the scale. I did that and am COMPLETELY fed up with my weight. It happened..now it is time to lose the weight. No more excuses. Went to the gym and am starting out slow. I rode the bike for 15 minutes and did 1.66 miles and did the elliptical for 5 minutes. Not a huge work out but better than what I normally do which is NOTHING. I figured I needed to start somewhere and there it is. I will not allow myself to weigh 160 pounds ever again. I have two new hips so I no longer have an excuse for not doing anything.
The weight loss starts now.
